Perhaps the setting isn't well enough documented, but I expect that setting
{{PoolingHttpClientConnectionManager.setValidateAfterInactivity(TimeValue.ZERO_MILLISECONDS)}}
does exactly what we're looking for – reusing connections if the server
doesn't immediately close them, and detecting when connections are closed.
I suppose it's not the simplest thing to configure because the
{{HttpClients.custom()}} builder doesn't expose the setting, so it's necessary
to configure and pass along a {{PoolingHttpClientConnectionManager}}.
[~romain.manni-bucau] Is this something you could confirm for us?
