Hi Vijay,

There are certainly plenty of opportunities to contribute. What I recommend
is that you read through the documentation and recipes on
http://helix.apache.org and try to become a Helix user first. That way, you
can get more context about what Helix is about, what it does well, and what
it does not do well.

Then, I recommend looking through open Helix issues:
https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/HELIX/

As an Apache project, anyone is welcome to contribute to Helix. The way it
works is that you make changes to code, documentation, or other project
resources, and as a contributor you create issues (using the above link),
create code reviews (http://reviews.apache.org), and then a committer will
approve and submit patches for you.

Over time, as your activity increases, you may be eligible to become a
committer yourself.

Does that make sense?

Kanak
