Hi, Hive doesn't reject export / import commands of views and materialized views immediately upon issuing as they are not tables, but they also don't work properly. The documentation and the syntax also suggests that we support only table exports / imports.
I believe that it doesn't make much sense to export / import any kind of view, therefore I suggest to explicitly reject such requests with a proper error message. I've created a jira for this: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/HIVE-23123. Please chime in.
