Hi, Thanks for preparing the release tag.
+1(non-binding) - Checksum: OK - Signature: OK - Licence: No GPL included, OK - Source from build: OK - Hive on Tez on Hadoop 3.4.1: OK - Iceberg REST Catalog backed by HMS: /v1/config, create & get table OK - Iceberg REST Catalog backed by HMS: TCK CatalogTests OK - Trino can access Iceberg REST Catalog backed by HMS with or without OAuth 2 I found `docker push` was unintentionally triggered and failed. I guess `workflow_dispatch` would succeed because it saves some spaces, but I'm not sure. I don't think it's a blocker, since it is a GitHub Actions issue and we can fix it without changing the branch. https://github.com/apache/hive/actions/runs/19309464855 Best, Okumin On Wed, Nov 19, 2025 at 3:59 PM Butao Zhang <[email protected]> wrote: > Hi Dmitriy, > > +1 (binding) > Thanks for driving the release! > > Here is my verification for Candidate 1. > > ----------------------Hive binary package and src package > validations:----------------------- > [1] Verified signatures and checksums OK > [2] Build hive source apache-hive-4.2.0-src.tar.gz OK > [3] Run HS2 and HMS against JDK 21 & Hadoop3.4.1 & Tez 0.10.5 & MySQL as > backend metadata db OK > [4] Create iceberg table and insert & select table using beeline client > OK > [5] Test HMS Rest Catalog server with no-auth against Apache Spark OK > > > --------------------Standalone HMS binary package and src package > validations:------------------ > [1] Verified signatures and checksums OK > [2] Build standalone HMS source > hive-standalone-metastore-4.2.0-src.tar.gz OK > [3] Run HS2 and HMS against JDK 21 & Hadoop3.4.1 & MySQL as backend > metadata db OK > [4] Test standalone HMS Rest Catalog server with no-auth against Apache > Spark OK > > > Thanks, > Butao Zhang > ---- Replied Message ---- > From Dmitriy Fingerman<[email protected]> > <[email protected]> > Date 11/19/2025 03:22 > To <[email protected]> <[email protected]> > Subject [VOTE] Apache Hive 4.2.0 Release Candidate 1 > Hello Apache Hive community, > > This is a call for vote to release Apache Hive 4.2.0 Release Candidate 1. > > > Apache Hive 4.2.0 Release Candidate 1 is available here: > https://dist.apache.org/repos/dist/dev/hive/hive-4.2.0/ > > https://dist.apache.org/repos/dist/dev/hive/hive-standalone-metastore-4.2.0/ > > > The checksums are these: > 829337f9977b7f5dcca67616c10d9ea144961777c42e920540f6cfc26891d328 > apache-hive-4.2.0-bin.tar.gz > 134496101fe5d9ada97a9ad09d33d255626037c7ca993d7ddf6fad103388a85a > apache-hive-4.2.0-src.tar.gz > 713b2099c1fcc07125082963d109c011f20a937650b4e89ccb9e914bc9efc437 > hive-standalone-metastore-4.2.0-bin.tar.gz > 63be82dbc07aebc07b57d8a1f96ee09f5a1619cec97cab8d9eeeae72b529e36d > hive-standalone-metastore-4.2.0-src.tar.gz > > > You can find the KEYS file here: > https://downloads.apache.org/hive/KEYS > > > Maven artifacts are available here: > https://repository.apache.org/content/repositories/orgapachehive-1142 > > > The tag release-4.2.0-rc1 has been applied to the source for this release > in github, you can see it at > https://github.com/apache/hive/tree/rel/release-4.2.0-rc1 > > > The git commit hash is: > > https://github.com/apache/hive/commit/cb06ad72d609e51b6a3a38ccb120e34b4281067c > > > The vote is open for the next 72 hours and passes if a majority of at least > three +1 PMC votes are cast. > > > (Only PMC members have binding votes, however, other community members > are encouraged to cast non-binding votes.) > > > [ ] +1 Release this package as Apache Hive 4.2.0 > [ ] + 0 > [ ] -1 Do not release this because... > > > Please download, verify, and test. > > > Thanks, > Dmitriy Fingerman >
