Yes you got most of it correct. So if there are no arguments the form is:

functioname(source....) for e.g. ptf1(part distribute by mfgr sort by name)

If there are arguments the form is:

functionname(args on source ...) for e.g. ptf2(arg1, arg2 on part distribute by 
mfgr sort by name)

If you have args the ON is required. Probably can make the ON optional here. I 
think there was some ambiguity if ON is optional; didn't want to deal with it 
in the first pass... If you want I can go back and check.
