Issue 1 : The rank operator is sensitive to case.

The following works :


SELECT
        fco.cmscustid,fco.orderdate, rank() w
FROM
        fake_customer_orders fco
window
        w as (partition by fco.cmscustid  order by fco.orderdate)


While this does not :

SELECT 
        fco.cmscustid,fco.orderdate, RANK() w 
FROM 
        fake_customer_orders fco   
window   
        w as (partition by fco.cmscustid  order by fco.orderdate);


The failing call returns :

FAILED: SemanticException Failed to breakup Windowing invocations into Groups. 
At least 1 group must only depend on input columns. Also check for circular 
dependencies.
Underlying error: org.apache.hadoop.hive.ql.exec.UDFArgumentTypeException: One 
or more arguments are expected.

Issue 2: 

The following works :

SELECT 
        fco.cmscustid,fco.orderdate, RANK(fco.orderdate) w
FROM 
        fake_customer_orders fco   
window   
        w as (partition by fco.cmscustid  order by fco.orderdate);


This does not :
SELECT 
        fco.cmscustid,fco.orderdate, RANK(fco.orderdate) w
FROM 
        fake_customer_orders fco   
window   
        w as (partition by fco.cmscustid  order by fco.orderdate);

and returns -

This has been reproduced by mutliple users and probably pertains to other 
PTF/windowing functions as well although I haven't duplicated them



In no case is the returned output the expected output. I'll file another jira 
for this.
