Harish Butani commented on HIVE-5087: ------------------------------------- Just tried to apply the patch. Have the same issue as Brock pointed out. The patch doesn't apply because of {noformat} --- ql/src/java/org/apache/hadoop/hive/ql/udf/ptf/RegexPath.java (working copy) +++ ql/src/java/org/apache/hadoop/hive/ql/udf/ptf/RegexPath.java (working copy) {noformat} If you are busy, happy to take this one of your plate and create a new patch... Not clear about your udf comment; went through a lengthy process with Teradata through our legal on why there is no infringement. Are you saying there are things that can still come up? And if you look at the current implementation there is no use of regex;I am almost sure they don't use Regexes either. In both cases the interface exposes a Regex like language. As far as my understanding goes, the main claims in their patent are about evaluating Path expressions in constant space and time. > Rename npath UDF > ---------------- > > Key: HIVE-5087 > URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/HIVE-5087 > Project: Hive > Issue Type: Bug > Reporter: Edward Capriolo > Assignee: Edward Capriolo > Priority: Blocker > Fix For: 0.12.0 > > Attachments: HIVE-5087.1.patch.txt, HIVE-5087.patch.txt, > HIVE-5087.patch.txt, regex_path.diff > > -- This message is automatically generated by JIRA.
