My 0.02 but two of the properties that we use in hive-site.xml to override
properties in hbase-site.xml are "hbase.zookeeper.quorum" and
"hbase.client.scanner.caching". Agree that "hbase.zookeeper.quorum" should
actually come from hbase-site.xml but for some reason, hive refuses to read
that property(bug maybe?) and hence has to be redefined in hive-site.xml.
The scanner caching property is used to just give the users greater control
over fine tuning the performance of their hive queries running on top of hbase.
