Connection fails with connection url "jdbc:hive2://hostname:port" without 
dbname after Hive-4256. There is a check in jdbc/HiveConnection.java : 
{noformat}
if(dbName!=null)
  stmt.execute("use "+dbName);
{noformat}

But looks like dbName is "" instead of null.
