Lefty Leverenz commented on HIVE-6316:
--------------------------------------
Thanks [~eugene.koifman]. I've revised the Load & Store doc, trimming the data
type tables down to bulleted lists with reference to the full table at the end
of the doc (although I don't like the width of that table -- perhaps the
release information shouldn't have its own column):
* [HCatLoader Data Types |
https://cwiki.apache.org/confluence/display/Hive/HCatalog+LoadStore#HCatalogLoadStore-HCatLoaderDataTypes]
* [HCatStorer Data Types |
https://cwiki.apache.org/confluence/display/Hive/HCatalog+LoadStore#HCatalogLoadStore-HCatStorerDataTypes]
* [Data Type Mappings (full table) |
https://cwiki.apache.org/confluence/display/Hive/HCatalog+LoadStore#HCatalogLoadStore-DataTypeMappings]
But I don't understand what's needed for the Input & Output doc, which has a
different kind of table:
* [HCat Record data types and Java classes |
https://cwiki.apache.org/confluence/display/Hive/HCatalog+InputOutput#HCatalogInputOutput-HCatRecord]

> HIVE-5814 added support for new types in HCat. The PDF file in that bug
> explains exactly how these map to Pig types. This should be added to the
> Wiki somewhere (probably here
> https://cwiki.apache.org/confluence/display/Hive/HCatalog+LoadStore).
> In particular it should be highlighted that copying data from Hive TIMESTAMP
> to Pig DATETIME, any 'nanos' in the timestamp will be lost. Also, HCatStorer
> now takes new parameter which is described in the PDF doc.
