MInor thing, but it looks like the 3 lines under "// reset
keyValueSeparatorPosition" are done whether or not lazyKey is null. Maybe get
rid of the continue statement and use an if-else so that both cases fall into
the reset keyValueSeparatorPosition code afterwards.
Also, is it possible to add a test case for this?
