The problem is that ltmain.sh doesn't exist in any of our repositories,
so we can't really patch it.  I'm not really sure what to do.  Based
on the libtool code, it looks like it'd only fail if /tmp isn't 
world-writeable - which is definitely not standard.

The real solution here is to contact the libtool people and write a 
suitable patch for them that works for you to include in future 
releases.  We could include your patch in a tarball release note
that indicates it may resolve problems on HPUX.  -- justin
