Mark has stated that he wants the C libraries to fix it not him.
(He's said this since approximately December 1998.)

I believe people have tried to submit patches to use strtok_r() and
gethostbyname_r() and he refuses to accept them.  (Similarly, he
refuses to accept patches to build c-client as a shared library.)

It's his code, so he can do that if we wants.  I'm not going to
tell him what to do.  -- justin
