Hello,

Just a miscalaneous pointer for you....

On the downloads page http://httpd.apache.org/download.cgi

the line that says apache_2.0.43-win32-x86-no_src.msi should be
apache_1.3.27-win32-x86-no_src.msi just to keep the download text
consistent.

By the way I'm new to apache, PHP & SQL and I am just starting to
set a local intranet at work at the moment on the bases of a SQL
database, the installation has been straight forward.

I had a few problems getting apache to recognise .php extension at
first but managed to solve it...sort of....I can't seem to get .php script
to run from /cgi-bin/ but they seem to run anywhere else...eg. /doc
root/test/test.php

Some help on creating directory structures wouldn't go a miss

eg.... /docroot/dir_1/ /docroot/dir_2

and how to have them read only to other users but adminstrator

I am using Windows 2000 sp 2, with MySQL 3.23.53 and PHP 4.2.3
and I have the above apache. I have really started getting into
MySQL and PHP interfacing between them. I am also using IIS 4
until I can figure out how to configure apache properly.

Many thanks for this excellent web server software, it gets new
people like myself interested in practical programming, installation
and other new experiences to do with web server authoring.

pache 1.3.27 is also available
Apache 1.3.27 is the best available version of the 1.3
series, and is recommended over all previous 1.3 releases.
Of particular note: 1.3.27 addresses the vulnerability noted
in CAN-2002-0061. For additional details, read the
    Official Announcement.

Use the Apache 1.3.27 version if you need to use third
party modules that are not yet available as an Apache 2.0
module. Apache 1.3 is not compatibile with Apache 2.0
    modules.
