But it already *is*. The whole reason for implementing protocols as modules was to *allow* this. Also, that's the reason for a lot of the thinking about pools and filters. If Apache was just "supposed" to do HTTP, then the current design would be very different (and a lot of the headaches in making it so would have been avoided). Apache 2.0 supports different protocols. It ships with HTTP. POP3 is available, at the least, as an example.
