Sometimes it's useful to have comments in the configure cruft, but yeah
the dnl's should stay.

Why are you removing the dnl's? Comments should only be dnl not #.
Adding the #'s doesn't help anyone. They'll just be added to the
unintelligble cruft of configure. -- justin
