My opinion on feature freeze is that while 2.odd-dev is murky, there may be cause to add reasonable features to 2.even provided they have ***no*** impact on existing, configured 2.even.prior installs. Once a 2.odd-dev graduates to 2.odd-alpha, then 2.odd-beta, we should be ready to put the icing on the next 2.even. At -that- point, once we release (or have nearly released) the new 2.even, the old 2.even should be at near-absolute-zero feature freeze. Just IMHO - feel free to debate. >Additionally, let's do 2.1 tarballs to bring the current development >branch to a wider group of devs and testers. Without any question - it's problem number one.
