It kind of nice the amount of activity in the 2.1 tree, and I'd be somewhat hesitant to restrict that; people like working on code that will actually be released and used within the year :)
Before we release 2.2, I think we should have a real plan on what 2.4 (or 3.0) will look like. Otherwise, we will have 3 code bases in RTC, and no real place to direct energy and vitality to.
