Hi,
there is a very old bug report at http://issues.apache.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=10744, which applies to 'suexec' of all versions of Apache!

When the 'execv' of suexec fails, suexec isn't able to log the errormessage correctly, because it already has been closed and suexec dropped it's privileges to reopen it!

I am not the original poster of this problem (who described it for version 1.3.X), but I just noticed the problem under version 2.2.4 and added a patch for it for your convenience...

So what do you think? Isn't it time to close a five year old bug? :-)

Have fun,
  ++frank

P.S.: And while looking at suexec: Don't you think it's also time to correct http://issues.apache.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=7862 (gid is incorrectly shown as number instead of it's name)? It's more like a finger exercise than a real problem... :-)
