This might have been an option before Joe started with the redesign.
Hopefully this should not destabilise the tree too much, so I don't really see the need for a branch - but I can do that if it is deemed necessary. I considered using a branch for the whole series of changes, but I expected that the majority of the work would be worthwhile regardless of whether the code is moved out of mod_ssl in the end; I think that's been true for everything committed so far. joe
