The Web PKI Ops (wpkops) Working Group is part of the IETF, and has as its goal to describe how the Web PKI "actually" works in the set of browsers and servers that are in common use today. To that end, the working group is attempting to document current and historic browser and server behavior. Its charter can be found at http://datatracker.ietf.org/wg/wpkops/charter/.
The group is about to release a survey to gather the raw data needed. Given that Apache/OpenSSL is used extensively, it's crucial that its behavior is documented. I'm looking for someone or some group of people to assist this effort by answering the survey. It will be distributed next Friday, December 20, and we hope to get responses by Friday, January 31, 2014. I realize that for some questions, the answer will be dependent on a certain version of Apache, and for other questions, the answer will be dependent on a certain version of OpenSSL. I hope responders will make these distinctions clear in their answers. Please reply to me if you're able to help in this effort. It's likely that no one person will know the answers to all the survey questions, so I would greatly appreciate it if someone could take charge of farming out the questions to the knowledgeable people and collating the results. Thank you in advance. -Rick Andrews
