Is it possible to use mcrypt to encrypt string using DES, AES, etc. in apache modules???

Hi. I am using mcrypt which is recognized by apxs when I compile my module. 
However when I visit my website the HTTP Get requests are logged due to the 
lines of my code that include mcrypt.
Any suggestion about my mistake here!
