KEEP_LATEST_COMMIT vs KEEP_LATEST_VERSION

Hello,

I am a little confused when I was looking at the compaction policy. What is
the difference between KEEP_LATEST_COMMIT vs KEEP_LATEST_VERSION? What is
the exact definition of "COMMIT" and "VERSION"?
