The problem is that the self-invite link would periodically break and ASF infra would fix it. But the last time it broke, there had been a recent problem with spammers so they decided not to fix it... which makes it hard for people to join us on Slack. We talked at our latest sync about moving to the apache-iceberg Slack workspace, which I think we should do. We just need to discuss it on this list to get a general consensus that we want to move to a new workspace.
