Hi Gabor Thanks for your comments. The intention is to move the HadoopCatalog in test space, not to remove it. If there are contributions to bring on production grade, we can always move again :) We can add an option to HadoopCatalog to check if the backend storage is HDFS, but we have to keep the local fs option for test purposes.
About REST, it's a discussion we had. Iceberg is spec+table format, not the "core" purpose to have REST runtime/server because it means a lot in terms of features (observability, storage, auth, etc). There are several good implementations available (gravitino, nessie, ...). The proposal I made during Catalog meeting is: - Iceberg should provide a TCK (I started to sketch something about that using CatalogHandler) for both server and client - The implementations will be able to test their compatibility based on the TCK and we can have a list of "TCK verified" implementations Thoughts ?
