Hi all, I'd like to do a maintenance release for the 3.x branch. The 3.4.0 release is not compilable (need the patch of IMPALA-9815). We still have users on Impala 3.4 since they can't upgrade their Hive versions. It'd be nice to have a buildable release for 3.4.
We previously discussed 3.4.1 at this thread: https://lists.apache.org/thread/6g99yxjwfm9tl5wkw45ktq88tk9nns39 Unfortunately, I don't have time to fix the Sentry issues (IMPALA-10326 & IMPALA-10130). We can target them in 3.4.2 or 3.5 branches. The 3.x branch is currently buildable and only has bug fixes other than branch-3.4.0. I propose creating the 3.4.1 branch based on the HEAD of 3.x and I volunteer to manage the release of 3.4.1. Please speak up and let the community know your ideas, especially any bug fixes that you want to backport to 3.4.1. All feedback is welcome! PS This is not a VOTE thread but only a DISCUSS thread.
