I have found issue in your documentation I'm using
impalad version 2.7.0-cdh5.9.0 RELEASE (build 4b4cf1936bd6cdf34fda5e2f32827e7d60c07a9c) Built on Fri Oct 21 01:07:22 PDT 2016 In documentation https://www.cloudera.com/documentation/enterprise/5-9-x/topics/impala_literals.html#timestamp_literals you say : You can also use INTERVAL expressions to add or subtract from timestamp literal values, such as '1966-07-30' + INTERVAL 5 YEARS + INTERVAL 3 DAYS. See TIMESTAMP Data Type for details. When I run query select '1966-07-30' + interval 1 year; --doesn't work !!! but according your doc. this should work. select cast('1966-07-30' as timestamp) + interval 1 year; --have to manually cast to timestamp Jiří Troup Consultant Adastra Nile House Karolinská 654/2 186 00 Praha 8 Czech Republic [email protected]<mailto:[email protected]> www.adastra.cz<http://www.adastra.cz/> www.adastragrp.com<http://www.adastragrp.com/> [https://aportal.adastragrp.com/OutlookSignature/Images/adastra.png] [Linkedin]<https://www.linkedin.com/company/adastra-czech-republic> [Facebook]<https://www.facebook.com/adastra.cze> [YouTube]<https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCUjgCdPQzfdLT4JEzZvPiPg> Follow Adastra Czech Republic on LinkedIn<https://www.linkedin.com/company/adastra-czech-republic>, Facebook<https://www.facebook.com/adastra.cze> and YouTube<https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCUjgCdPQzfdLT4JEzZvPiPg>.
