Hi:

I have updated the instructions at <http://installation.openoffice.org/servlets/ReadMsg?list=dev&msgNo=609> for installing the snapshot build rpms of OOo 1.9 on Debian systems (please see attachment). I have made the commands more generic, and modified a couple that were no longer working for current builds (> 69, I think). The procedure is as follows:

1.) Download native .rpms
2.) "tar xzf" to extract RPMS/ subdir; cd RPMS/
3.) Run su to become root and run 'alien -k *.rpm' to produce .deb packages
4.) Install via "dpkg -i --force-overwrite *.deb" (--force-overwrite needed to correct spurious file conflicts in .debs produced by alien)
5.) Edit /opt/openoffice.org1.9.<build#>/share/config/javavendors.xml to remove references to Sun and IBM vendors
6.) As root, run by hand post-install commands to complete configuration:
# /opt/openoffice1.org1.9.<build#>/program/unopkg reinstall --shared
# /opt/openoffice1.org1.9.<build#>/program/configimport --spool (you should get success messages, although this failed for build 79 - couldn't find spool directory)
# /opt/openoffice1.org1.9.<build#>/program/update-mime-data "openoffice1.9"
# chmod 755 /opt/openoffice.org1.9.<build#>/program/soffice
7.) Exit su shell via 'exit'
8.) Run '/opt/openoffice1.org1.9.<build#>/program/soffice'

Hope this helps.

Best regards, and thanks for the hard work!
