Hello Robin,

I've CC'd the installation list, so they can correct or complement my email.

In 2.0 OpenOffice.org will move to "native" packages. That is, we'll provide RPMs and DEBs. So... for your book I would include those, and tell people to use the same GUI program that they use for other packages. I understand that in most RPM distros you can just double-click on the RPM, but I can't confirm this, I don't use RPM distros.

Cheers,
Daniel.

Hey Daniel....

I'm writing "Point & Click Openoffice.org" for Prentice Hall. Ms is due end of June.

Any thoughts on what I can/should include for Linux users on the inevitable back-of-the-book CD? The Windows version is fine, but Linux...

The installer for the beta is a mess. Think things will be better by the end of June -- at least good enough that readers can do a click-click install in Linux?
