Hello iSteve,
the original list was merely a list of internal issues and projects.
Even worse many projects became outdate in the advent of OpenOffice.org
2.0. Patching is one of them.
As much as we would love to see a patching mechanism appear in rpm we
see little to no chance to incorporate that into the rpm mainstream.
SuSE already implemented something alike and it can be assumed as mature
by today. Still RedHat is refusing an inclusion into rpm.
We don't see a benefit in developing another proprietary rpm extension
that will not make it into the mainstream. Instead we will go the path
of being smart with updates (you can find more information about that in
this list).
Said all that, I'm sorry for the confusion with the project list and
hope that you'll find a different project or mentor to choose from.
best regards
Christof
Greetings,
I'm most interested in the RPM patching bounty. Since I've wrote two
RPM parsers, one of which also parsed the CPIO payload, I believe I
could handle this.
Thanks in advance for reply
