Have you created a PODLINGNAMESEARCH jira issue? I would recommend doing that.
As far as I remember, this is also about not only having name that is not in conflict with an existing trademark, but also if Apache can establish a trademark. This could be a Problem as it's so widely used. But IANAL, so I would suggest to create the jira issue and have the others check that. The other one is called `iotdb-extract`, which is used for extract text articles from newspapers. * 109 JavaScript projects, 1 Groovy project: most of them are come dpjanes (Github account), which is donated to maintain some node.js packages (e.g., iotdb-arp, a tool for Mac address scan; node-iotdb, A Node.JS platform for semantically control all your Things.), I think. Google code: https://opensource.google.com/projects/search?q=IoTDB No hints Sourceforge: https://sourceforge.net/directory/os:mac/?q=IoTDB No hits Openhub: https://www.openhub.net/p?ref=homepage&query=IoTDB No hits Evidence Of Registration: Trademarks: https://www.trademarkia.com/trademarks-search.aspx?tn=IoTDB No hits https://trademarks.justia.com/search?q=IoTDB No hits USPTO: http://tmsearch.uspto.gov/bin/showfield?f=toc&state=4801%3Avt3l3h.1.1&p_search=searchss&p_L=50&BackReference=&p_plural=yes&p_s_PARA1=&p_tagrepl%7E%3A=PARA1%24LD&expr=PARA1+AND+PARA2&p_s_PARA2=IoTDB&p_tagrepl%7E%3A=PARA2%24COMB&p_op_ALL=AND&a_default=search&a_search=Submit+Query&a_search=Submit+Query (this URL is expired) No records. Evidence Of Use On World Wide Web: https://www.google.com/search?q=IoTDB&oq=IoTDB 9110 records. * some are about Apache IoTDB (or the version before IoTDB entered the incubator), includes: github, maven repository, website etc. * http://www.green-ic.org/iotdb it is a spreadsheet that contains 1MB data, and therefore is called as a database (not a software). * NodeJS packages, e.g., iotdb-arp, node-iotdb, iotdb-smartthings * iotdb.org, and the website has a twitter account, iotdb. But the website is unavailable now, and the last update of the twitter is 2016. StackOverflow: https://stackoverflow.com/search?q=IoTDB 11 records These records are talking about: * 3 records are talking about the problem of using iotdb-arp: a Mac address scanner tool, written by node.js. * 8 records just have a string "iotdb" in their contents. Oxford dictionary: https://en.oxforddictionaries.com/search?filter=dictionary&query=IoTDB No hits wikipedia: https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?search=IoTDB&title=Special%3ASearch&go=Go No hits So, it seems there is no trademark about IoTDB, and nobody used IoTDB as a name (but some node.js packages use iotdb-* or *-iotdb). Now, we can find some webpages to introduce Apache IoTDB, it is better that keep the name, I think. Can someone give me some advices?
