Hi all,

100000 +1 for that Julian

For all of you coming to ACNA, I would suggest you come to my "From the Idea to
TLP" talk as I will explicitly
talk about this process. How we observed things in the PLC4X project and how
important, but also how rewarding it can be.

    Hi,

I agree with the sorrows stated.
Perhaps, I can share some of my impressions, coming from a just recently
graduated podling.
At first, I didn’t get the whole "if its not on the list, it didn’t happen"
thing.
It was kind of annoying and I also know that some people are a bit shy or
anxious about writing to such lists.

But as the community grew and more and more people where involved it really
helped out to have this central place of communication. For us this was
important because we had two "large hubs" one in Frankfurt and one in Nürtingen
and the list was what kept them in sync.
And as more and more people are interested in IoTDB here in Europe /
Germany a similar situation could emerge.

The whole concept of the incubator (correct me justin if I'm wrong) is
about community building (and legal stuff).
So IoTDB will become a mature OS Project if we manage to have a strong and
sustainable community backing it.
We have seen what can happen in the Edgent project, where IBM (which was
the ONLY driving force behind the project) suddenly stepped back. The project
fell into paralysis.

So in some sense, in such a podling, you have to work and document as if
you want to make yourself replaceable.

    Just my thoughts.

    Julian

How about someone deeply involved writing up a "What happened last
week" email which is sent to the list?

I've caught up things like "Cluster Mode" and other terms that I didn't
even know were being worked on
(Actually I now absolutely nothing the community is currently working
on)

            Hi,

In the last board report all of the mentors expressed concerns that
there is not enough conversation happening on this mailing list, the board has
also expressed the same concern.

I don’t know where the conversation is happening but it needs to be
brought back on this mailing list. It’s OK too talk about the project
elsewhere, and I know it may be hard for some people to converse in English,
but any discussions on direction or decisions need to happen to this list / be
brought back to this list so that everyone can be involved in the discussion.

Do the PPMC have any thoughts on this? Do they have any ideas how
this can be improved?

            Thanks,
            Justin
