Hi,

Congratulations. It’s nice to see our cluster-version take a big step forward!

Hi,

I'd like to announce the news that the largest PR, IoTDB's cluster module,
PR#460, JIRA ISSUE 68, is merged.

This PR is opened on Oct 18th, 2019.
Many developers contributed to it and many developers joined to review the
codes.
A Chinese document/paper for the detailed design of the module is published
here[4].

Finally, 57K lines of codes are added and 2K lines of codes are deleted.
The modifications involve the cluster module, the server module, the JDBC
module, etc...
Even reviewing the codes is huge work.

Except for the cluster module, I have reviewed the modifications of all
other modules. So, I have high confidence to say the PR won't impact the
stability and performance if you just use IoTDB in the single-node mode.

For the cluster module, I think some other developers have reviewed it.
But, we need more reviewers and more tests for the modules.

For prudential reasons, I suggest if we release the cluster module in the
next 1 to 3 (or more) versions, let's pack two release files, one is
apache-iotdb and the other is apache-iotdb-cluster-alpha [2], to provide a
stable single-node version and an experimental cluster version to users.

I believe after more and more users trying, testing and contributing to the
module, the module will be stable quickly.

Then, I list some TODO tasks to wind up the issue, see [3].

Finally, congratulations, all of you. Thanks for making such big
contribution to the Apache IoTDB community.

By the way, it is Jialin Qiao who clicked the "squash and merge" button on
my Mac... Not me. I feared such a large PR :D

Enjoy it.
