The Project Management Committee (PMC) for Apache IoTDB
is delighted to announce that [PMC Member Name] has joined the PMC!
Rongzhao’s most notable contribution is the design and implementation
of the ConfigNode—one of the cornerstone of our first officially distributed
release (version 1.0). Entrusted with cluster management and load-balancing
responsibilities, he not only delivered a resilient foundation but also
introduced three novel, time-series-specific algorithms: the data partitioning
table, the replica placement and the leader election strategies.
These innovations culminated in his research paper, “Migration-Free Elastic
Storage of Time Series in Apache IoTDB,” which has been accepted by VLDB 2025.
Building on this momentum, Rongzhao spearheaded the development of the
AINode for version 2.0, establishing IoTDB’s native machine-learning kernel.
By assimilating cutting-edge research on time-series foundation models,
he seamlessly integrated the Timer family into the codebase, significantly
expanding IoTDB’s analytical capabilities.
In total, Rongzhao has committed nearly 300 changes to the repository
over the past five years. Beyond code, he continually enriches our
community with academic insights while maintaining the engineering
pragmatism required to realize ambitious ideas.

The PMC - Project Management Committee - manages and guides the
direction of the project, and is responsible for inviting new
committers and PMC members to steward the longevity of the project.
See https://community.apache.org/pmc/responsibilities.html if you're
interested in learning more about the rights and responsibilities of
PMC members.

Please join us in welcoming Yongzao Dan to their new role in our
project!
