Do please consider what capabilities you want in terms of object
management, eg mutability vs immutability, if mutable then: dirty tracking,
lazy loading; querying etc.  Historically (and partly because of the age of
some of the codebase) Isis has "rolled its own" with respect to all of
this.  What attracted Jeroen and I to using JDO was the opportunity to
ditch a lot of this code and let Isis focus on its core concerns.   The
framework is too complex right now, and that results in not enough
committers understanding the framework.

No, not at all.  It's important to have these conversations, so we can
improve the framework for all.  Most important thing is to ensure we agree
on the principles/objectives of the framework: which we do.  Now just the
"simple" matter of making the framework accomplish those objectives.
