Martin, you might be right that the implementation could be improved, but I
decided in the first event to add to the kitchen sink and see whether it
worked... which it seems to.
So (as its new code that no-one else is using and thus low risk), gonna commit
to Isis "as-is". We can always refactor/refine later.
