Regarding #1:  The way I tested the MessageService in my application was to 
have an implementation of it with `menuOrder = 1` in the test classpath that 
keeps a copy of the messages sent to it so that test classes can query it.  
This was an acceptance test that was run as a cucumber feature.   Would this 
approach work for the module unit tests?
