Are you using JCR-RMI to access the repository? That would probably explain quite a few of the performance issues since there are inherent performance limitations in the JCR-RMI design. See the warning on http://jackrabbit.apache.org/doc/deploy/howto-model3.html. BR, Jukka Zitting
