please create a patch and attach it to the jira issue that you've
already created:

since this will be a non-trivial patch you will also need to sign and
submit a CLA that can be found here:
http://www.apache.org/licenses/#clas
The patches are now attached to that issue. When you look at them
you will see that they are indeed quite trivial but I will submit the
CLA anyway just in case.
