The Spi2Dav approach is one good candidate for placing jackrabbit in a
distributed environment.
Given the operational complexities on deploying an RMI based solution (port
accessabilitty restrictions), performance etc, another more standard approach
is necessary to access a remote jackrabbit server which may be shared by
multiple application servers.
