That's wrong - as clearly stated in [1], people who donate code to the ASF can keep the copyright on it, the ASF only requires a copyright *license*, to allow us to redistribute such code. Common practice for code copyrighted by someone else than the ASF is to remove copyright headers from the source files, and use the NOTICE.txt file to mention such copyrights.
