In revision 1179606 I restored support for POST requests accessing this same
functionality. I looked at implementing a more generic POST-to-GET conversion,
but that probably needs a bit more thought.
I also added some javadoc documentation about this multi-read feature.
I guess the only thing still needed is a test case. Anything else we should
still change?
