Hi Stefan,
IIUC all of the issues are only related to the node type validator which has
been introduced in 3.4.8 and indeed suffered from several flaws. However that
validator can be easily disabled
(https://jackrabbit.apache.org/filevault/validation.html#Settings
<https://jackrabbit.apache.org/filevault/validation.html#Settings>).
The other validators are not affected... Please correct me if I am wrong.

Still having a fully working node type validator would obviously be nice to
have. There are a few more things I would like to include in the upcoming
release (because even getting the required amount of votes is sometimes hard in
the Jackrabbit project), but since I am the only active committer on this
project this may require few more days.

Everyone can help though, e.g. by adding a fix for
https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/JCRVLT-485
<https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/JCRVLT-485> or for
https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/JCRVLT-458
<https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/JCRVLT-458>. I will go trough the list
of issues targeted for FileVault 3.4.8 and and package-maven-plugin 1.1.6 and
move everything out which I consider not crucial...
