[~balasoiu] I think it makes sense to reproduce the issue with a FV test.
Perhaps [~kwin] or [~reschke] could provide some pointers to build such test
or you may look into

IIUC from the issue description, the issue may occur on export. The test may
focus on that part and show the regression by proving it used to work with
version x and no longer does with version y.
