Sorry for the late response, some urgent stuff came up. There is an error, albeit misleading, when doing that, it says you do not have TAG permission on that resource.
I've also tried this several times, looked at our acceptance tests, they all do the same and it works. The only thing I can do is take a look at the logs at the time when you run the tests, but I doubt there'll be anything useful in there as CRUD operations that don't affect your infrastructure (i.e. not drives and snapshots) don't log much in case of success.
