The issue doe snot affect the ComputeService abstraction, as the HPCloud live tests are passing. This reduces the impact of the issue, but I agree that we can release 1.9.0 with that fix.
I'll be happy to test HP cloud if you provide a test or a main class we can use to verify the issue is gone.
