What OS are you running your script on? On Mac OS X 10.7.5 I get "-bash: gpg: command not found" and on Ubuntu 12.04 I get "/usr/bin/md5sum: invalid option -- 'q'".
Even if I remove the -q from md5sum on Ubuntu, it still tacks on the tarball filename after the md5 so the diff still fails. None of the options seem to prevent the tarball filename from being tacked on.
