The patch looks good to me. As you say there is a space cost but the
trade-off seems reasonable.
Andy has created issue JENA-412 to track this request. I've checked and
applied the patch. If you give it 24 hours for the snapshot builds to
propagate then you can check whether 2.10.1-SNAPSHOT correctly includes
your patch. If so let us know so we can close the issue.
