I thought the contract for timeout was similar to the timeout for HTTP
connections where N,M, where N is the Connection timeout (CONNECTION_TIOMEOUT)
and M is the socket timeout (SO_TIMEOUT) as documented at
http://hc.apache.org/httpcomponents-core-ga/httpcore/apidocs/org/apache/http/params/CoreConnectionPNames.html
