I can re-run the operations without 1, 4 and 5, which would retain 1.6
compatibility. It also makes the patch less nice :)
I would question the overall usefulness of a decision to have the pom.xml file
at 1.7 and keep BOTH 1.6 language level as well as 1.6 library level, which is
what would actually be required to retain the ability to compile with 1.6. In
this case you would only be getting 1.7 byte-code in the official release,
which I find somewhat of a low-value goal.
